What Coaching Is and What It’s Not
Relationship coaching is a supportive, future-focused process that helps you gain clarity, build skills, and move intentionally toward the marriage you want. Whether you are navigating challenges, preparing for marriage, or looking to reconnect within your marriage, coaching provides a safe, non-judgemental space for real growth and progress.
Coaching is:
✅ A guided conversation focused on solutions, values, and personal growth
✅ A space to clarify goals and overcome obstacles
✅ Empowering, practical, and action-oriented
✅ Usually less expensive from therapy (ask about our sliding payment scale and discounts)
Coaching is not:
❌ Therapy or mental health treatment
❌ The answer to life, the universe, and everything
❌ A quick fix or one-size-fits-all answer
❌ A place where the coach does all the work and you sit back... you're coming to work
❌ About placing blame or digging through the past unnecessarily. We don't avoid the past, the focus rather is forward
Coaching can help with a wide range of relational challenges. While not an exhaustive list, here are some common reasons individuals and couples seek coaching:
✅ "We argue about the same things over and over."
✅ "I want us to grow together, not apart."
✅ "We feel like two ships passing in the night."
✅ “We’re preparing for marriage and want to start strong.”
✅ “I feel like I’m trying harder than my partner.”
✅ “We’ve drifted apart, and I’m not sure how to reconnect.”
✅ “I want to lead my relationship with purpose and peace.”
In these situations, coaching can offer support, tools, and structure as you move forward with clarity and confidence.
However, coaching is not always the right fit—especially when safety or mental health are at risk. In these cases, specialized professionals should be your first point of contact:
❌ “When we fight, we get violent.”
If your relationship involves physical violence, threats, or fear, we strongly recommend seeking help from trained domestic violence professionals or local support services. Your safety comes first.
Once you're in a secure environment, coaching can support you in exploring forgiveness vs. reconciliation, setting boundaries, or navigating grief and healing.
❌ “Our therapist is out of town and we need immediate help for suicidal thoughts.”
Coaching is not a substitute for crisis intervention. If you or a loved one is experiencing suicidal thoughts or immediate mental health distress, please reach out to 911 or one of the resources below. After immediate safety is restored, coaching may be a helpful next step to explore how mental and relational health are connected, and how to grow from and towards a place of stability.
If you or someone you love is in immediate danger, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.

We offer a free, no-pressure consultation to help you explore whether coaching can meet your needs right now. And if it’s not the best starting point, we’ll gladly point you toward someone who is.
Ask yourself:
Do I feel stuck or unsure about how to move forward in my relationship?
Am I open to honest reflection and growth?
Do I want to improve communication, connection, or conflict skills?
Would I benefit from an outside perspective grounded in experience and care?
Am I committed to putting in the effort, even when it’s uncomfortable?
Are things good, but we want our relationship to be stronger and healthier?
If you answered “yes” to even one of these, then coaching might be a valuable next step in your relationship.
